The Cutting of HSEW’s [ESPI’s] New Year Cake

Our first event at our new facilities, the cutting of our New Year’s cake and the raffle drawing, was a truly happy occasion and a great success!
So many wonderful friends of HSEW (ESPI) old and new, came to celebrate with us, not just the cutting of the New Year cake but, ultimately, the opening of our new facilities.

The fire was lit and the smell of coffee welcomed our first visitors as we prepared for the event. The winter sun brightened the day encouraging everyone to explore the grounds and visit our horses and mules in the paddocks while the gluhwein brewed in readiness for the main affair.

The primary New Year cake was cut in our horses’ and HSEW’s (ESPI’s) name, the winning slice going to Oliver, one of our mules!

This was followed by the drawing of our raffle for the Giclee print donated by one of our volunteers, winner of which was Catherine Stroobants. Congratulations Catherine!!

We would like to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets, we were incredibly touched by people’s generosity and enthusiasm and would like to add that the proceeds of the raffle will be going towards the sponsoring of Oliver, who won the lucky coin in our New Year’s cake.

There was much good cheer and optimism that spread throughout everyone who joined us, which lifted our spirits and gives us great hope for many more happy events to come.

A huge thank you once again and a truly Happy New Beginning.
